Making Ourselves Clear
We’ve been quiet so that we could listen. But it doesn’t serve our community to simply listen and learn; we want to make ourselves clear.
Black lives matter to Mathys+Potestio—to our employees personally, to our society as a whole, and to our business. The brutal violence we’ve witnessed recently is a reflection of generations of systemic racism and its subsequent inequalities, and we stand with the protestors demanding change.
We have a lot of work to do. Our internal team, with very few exceptions, does not represent the communities we serve. We’ve known that for some time, and for all the usual reasons humans don’t do hard things, we haven’t done that work. We’re doing it now.
We are working to set up goals to ensure M+P is doing our part to fight against racial injustice. This includes diversity and inclusion goals and processes to improve representation across our internal team. While those changes will not happen overnight, we know our team should look more like the candidates we place and we’re going to work to make that a reality.
Most important to us is that every job seeker we represent feels supported while working with us. After all, we are a staffing agency. We exist to connect incredible talent to opportunities. One of our key business values is that we put talent first. If our candidates are in jeopardy, we are in jeopardy.
We can be a part of making real change occur for individuals and groups, and we are committed to continuing and improving that work.
M+P will have concrete, aggressive, and achievable goals by September 2020. You can hold us to that. We don’t promise to have all the answers, but we pledge to do the work and be transparent as we move forward. In the meantime, we hear you, we see you, and we’re glad you’re here.
